A collection of photos of San Francisco (with 1 exception) taken over the years. There is no central or unifying theme to this portfolio – just a few memories of the City. It is easily the subject that I have photographed the most.
I grew up in San Francisco – some images are from my old neighborhood near Nob and Russian Hills. Deborah sold the Sunday Chronicle outside the coffee shop we went to during our visits. The Alhambra Theatre was a classic Moorish style, neighborhood movie theater that opened in 1926. Lowell is where I went to high school
Other images are from events we attended. Arguably, the weekend of October 5-7, 2012 in San Francisco was the most spectacular one in terms of events that the City has ever seen. There was the America’s Cup Semi-Finals, Fleet Week and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass which we saw. The Giants were in the playoffs (they won the World Series) and the 49ers were in town. Oh, I should mention that our son got married at City Hall.
I spent a lot of time in Chinatown and was part of a community-based organization called Cameron House. They held an annual carnival the first Saturday in May. It has been a big part of my life.
The rest of the images are a mix of street photography and points of interest. We use to walk/drive around the City and take photos of whatever appealed to me. In October 2022, we were in town for a wedding – so we took the opportunity to walk along The Embarcadero.
There is a separate portfolio for photos of the Golden Gate Bridge – too many to include here.
