The 15th annual The Quail MotoFest (formerly known as The Quail Motorcycle Gathering) was held on May 17 at Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley.
The over 200 vintage and modern motorcycles spanned decades and included classes such as American, British, Italian, Japanese, Competition (On Road and Off-Road), Antique, Custom/Modified and Choppers. This year’s featured motorcycle classes were: Italian Innovation by Bimota; Tribute to Yoshimura; and Celebrating 45 Years of the BMW GS.

I used to own a BMW R1150GS and absolutely loved it. I rode around the Bay Area and Lake Tahoe for quite a few years. My first motorcycle back in the 1960s was a Honda Super 90, followed by Honda Super Hawk 305 (CB77).
I took these photos with a Leica M10-R with a Summicron 35mm f/2 lens. I like to use the M10-R when I want the pure enjoyment of classic photography with manual focus and manual settings in a compact, less intrusive camera.
